This isn't exactly angst as such but the topic came out of me whining and bitching about needing better critique in art, so. :p
Basically my art has gone down the pan and I barely write any more since personal issues in Art class sapped all my desire to be creative out of me. Now I'm getting out of that situation I want to rebuild my passion and abilities, and I think a really good art community with constructive critique could help me. Trouble is, ARE there any good sites out there? I can't help but be put off by the drama and wank that comes out of online creativity. As far as I understand it:
-DeviantArt is overcorporate, poorly modded and overflowing with cookie-cutter Naruto, Harry Potter and Death Note fanart and has no emphasis on critique at all
-SheezyArt is kind of a non-event and crashes with monotonous regularity
-FurAffinity is filled to the brim with furry drama (and kind of irrelevant to me since only a tiny fraction of what I draw is even remotely anthro and never 'yiffy', which seems to be what most people want)
-ConceptArt is really good, but SO intimidating
So I'd like to know if anyone has any others, and do they reccommend any? I want critiques and feedback like a fat kid wants cake, and since there are so many creative people here I hoped someone shared this need and knew a good place for such things that hadn't succumbed to interwebs dramas. Or if there are no perfect communities, which of the IMperfect ones are the best? Failing that I'll have to shell out for my own website, and I cannot even BEGIN to imagin how bad I would be at HTML.
Plz guyz, I need to learn how to draw again. :C
(I'd kill to be on Concept and recieve the excellent critique they give out there but I am way too intimidated by the way even artists that stun me with their prowess recieve buckets of critique. I don't think they're elitist, I just think it'll take me about 20 years before I'm at the level that the 'pretty good' artists there are at now. ;_;)
