i'm at times increasingly doubtful of newer movies...at least with what they've been 'pumping out'. i enjoy older movies, especially war ones...mind you i get a bit irritated if i sense any exaggeration in favor of a nation...*seethes quietly at 'The Dirty Dozen'*

i'm one of those people who can't list very well, but will randomly pop out with titles when least expected. (i say 'faster pussycat! kill! kill!' WAY too much)

THREAD HIJACKATION!
Because Livejournal, 4chan, DeviantArt and pretty much everyone I know in this county is pissing themselves over it and I wanna know what you guys thought-

The Dark Knight. Who's seen it? Opinions? Insightful remarks? Lived up to the hype? Or just getting irritating? Spoilahs ahead, obviously.

I saw it last Friday and loved it, much as certain parts were a bit strung-out but too important to the story to cut. My only serious quibble is that they STILL couldn't make Rachel, the ONLY female lead, an interesting/sympathetic character (to me at least). I'm not even a hardcoar feminist type that often bemoans the depiction of women in Hollywood, but I just barely noticed her character and didn't really care at all when she died (assuming she did die, because the batshit and not-so-batshit fan theories are breeding like rabbits already). She was just there as a plot point to cause Dent's breakdown, not as a player in her own right.
Also the anatomy nerdfuck in me was bemoaning the Two-Face fucked-up-face-effects (he was burnt, not skinned/flayed, guys), but that's not all that relevant to the movie. :B
And since everyone is all over the topic like a rash, yeah, I do think Ledger walked away with every scene. I know some people are of the opinion that everyone thinks that purely because of his death, but I think that would be the case if he was still alive too, because it was such a departure from what he's done before and it worked so well. Some people have a particular thing they specialise in and eventually get typecast as, like a writer specialises in a certain genre, and this seemed to be his (on the subject of writers, I've not seen much love for them, even though there were some stellar moments in there which I could rant over for days. ILU, scriptwriters, even if no-one else does).

Srs movie debate is go? I want to wax lyrical about scriptwriting and characterisation but all my friends/family want to do is talk about is cool explosions and MSPaint Joker makeup on stuff in vain attempts to be cool and edgy. -__-

ETA: as of 00:24 GMT, people are making/arguing about porn of it on two different 4chan boards. I know I totally called this about half an hour into the film, but I vastly underestimated the speed with which it would happen. :/
